Transportation is included for every member of Tamarac Senior Center. Each morning, one of our drivers picks the member up at home and brings them to the center. At the end of the day, the same service takes them back. There is no separate charge and no need to arrange a ride through a family member or an outside company. This page explains how the transportation works, who it is for, and why it matters to a senior day program in Broward County.
The transportation service is for enrolled members of the day program. It is useful in a few common situations. A senior may no longer drive, or may not feel safe driving. An adult child may work during the day and cannot leave to handle a morning drop-off and an afternoon pickup. A family may share one car, or live too far to make two trips a day. In each case, the included ride removes the daily logistics of getting a parent to a supervised program and back home.
For many older adults, transportation is the main barrier to staying active. When driving stops and family schedules are full, it becomes harder to leave the house, and days at home turn into isolation. That isolation affects both health and mood. By building the ride into the program, the center removes the step that most often keeps a senior from attending. The result is simple and practical: the member gets out of the house on a regular schedule, spends the day with meals, exercise, and other people, and returns home safely. Reliable transportation is what makes consistent attendance possible, and consistent attendance is what keeps a senior engaged.
